Whirlpool 27" GEM9868KQ1 Dryer

I was told it's OK to post in this section.

Suggestions requested on how to remove the subject piece.  Attempting to crank it with a 1/2"-drive socket wrench, said wrench simply slips in the hub.  Grabbing the wheel is awkward and I'm leery of breaking the fins.  Tried a rag in the hub for tighter fit, still slips and wore a hole in the cloth.

If your 1/2 socket extenion just will not grab that square center in the blower wheel you are about down to cutting/smashing it to remove the sorry thing...

I kinda figured that may be the case.  May leave it alone then.  Nothing wrong with it, I was wanting to disassemble the dryer to get it cleaned up nicely, can work around that part.  Got the pair at a garage sale couple months ago.  Had some ruckus with the washer (won't go into all of that detail), but it's refurbished and working now, yeeeehaww!

Glenn,

I often stick a thick bar (the handle of my strap wrench) through the fins and crank the motor shaft to remove the blower wheel. If you have to chisel it off, they are not that expensive compared to all those Calypso parts you like to buy.
