I have a sub zero 501 r and 501 L that the doors are sagging toward handle side on both. I have replaced the gaskets on both due to no vacuum on doors. Have worked with gaskets with heat they still are misformed. Will they get better with time? Is their any way to adjust these doors to take sag out? How does this vacuum thing work? Can it break? Also the  bottom hinge on the fridge side will not go in the notch provided on box trim?  Any ideas wil be much appreciated!

Hello, my saggging friend.  You will most likely need to replace the hinges on both doors.  No uncommon on these refrigerators.  Look closely at the hinges and the slot in the doors where the hinge peg fits.  You may only need to replace the plastic hinge cam.  Our flatulent host can probably get you a service manual for this unit if you need it.  Or there may already be one on the Xdrive.  Check and see.

I always boil up a shallow pan of water and pass the gasket through at least twice to soften and return it to it's correct shape. The hinges often wear out and sag occurs.

There is no vacuum pump on these things, a common misbelief.  The "suction" you feel is a result of the air pressure being higher outside the compartment and holding the door closed, a poor gasket seal will make the "suction" feel weak.

Thanks for info!

on the fridge side of this box i cannot get the hinge to go into the slot at bottom i replaced with all new hinge and cams, bushings etc.  Do the top hinges have any adjustment to lift the door and help take out the sagging? And might this help get hinge to slot?  So continues the saga of the sagging box doors!!

Can you post a pic? I am not sure what you mean.

I do not have ability to post pic at this time. I got the hinge to fit into the slot. The doors are still sagging toward the handle on both units. Both units are built in . I do not know if I pull the units forward to access top hinges if their is any adjustment in the top hinges? Any suggestions will be much appreciated!

So what'd you have to do?

Well I thought I had the problem solved but noy yet!! I still cannot get the doors to pull up tight like it used to. I know this model forms a vacuum from atmospheric pressure. But if still not doing it what next??

As to the door swag the small screws in both hinges were still their removed them and adjusted, it is  somewhat better as to the swagitis! Any other suggestions, my houseboat waiteth for the return of the master!!

Sounds like it's still either a hinge adjustment issue or the gasket isn't seating all the way around. Can you post a pic or three so we can get some eyeballs on it with you?

I am a novice at computer stuff. Probably can get this info but how do you post pics, links etc. I I am asking too much please forgive just an old timer learning the ropes!!

Piece of pie, tovarish! Use a digital camera to take pictures. Load the pictures onto your computer using the software that came with the camera, Windows Media Player, or iPhoto, depending on what kind of machine you have. Then you can use the spiffy attachment feature to attach a photo. Or just email it to me and I'll post it.
