KUDSO1DJ Kitchenaid Superba dishwasher will not drain

There is a lot of  grey water left in the basin after running a  cycle, so I threw in two tablespoons of Canola oil as there was sudsing as well. I suspect too much soap was used, or the drain filter is clogged.

I am not sure how to remove the filter, but did get the lower basket and spray arms out and ran a rinse cycle, which drained properly.

The on the very next rinse, same problem re-appeared.

I'm stumped.

take the drain hose loose  at the sink and turn the machine to drain and see if you can pump the water into a bucket

There is no "DRAIN" setting available at the panel. Should I run rinse again? I'm trying the rinse cycle again with the drain hose running to a bucket.

UPDATE:

The drain pump is definitely not turning on.

if the machine is running and you hit cancel once it should turn the drain pump on. You need to check voltage at the drain pump.

the pump running while cleaning is not an indication I suppose?

The pump should only run during the drain cycle; but I don't think you meant that the pump was running during the wash cycle.

If you hit cancel as appl.tech suggested and you feel the pump running, this is probably a good indication that it's running. I always like to get an actual voltage measurement to make sure I'm not dealing with junk voltage. For example 60vac, a common junk voltage reading, may make the pump hum, but not actually run.

Next you'll want to do a pump out test, some variation on the theme that appl.tech suggested. This is so we can get eyeballs on the discharge stream and make a qualitative assessment of the pump's condition-- a weak, anemic stream would indicate a problem with the pump or gookus in the drain hose.

When referring to a drain hose do you mean that running to the drain from the basin or the hose underneath attached to the pump?

The hose that runs from the pump on your dishwaser all the way to your sink or disposal.
