Scott,

Have you received the pix I sent of the defrost unit?

Hey, you made it! Welcome! :dude:

I got 'em. They're small, especially the ones of the new wiring. Can you post a larger one of the wiring with the new defrost t'stat installed? There's a size limit of 200k for attachments here at the forum, which should be plenty. If you need more storage for a muy grande pic, use a use free service, like Flickr, and post the link here.

Meanwhile, I'll look for a wiring diagram for your fridge and it here.

I've attached the relevant section of the wiring diagram that shows how the defrost thermostat is supposed to be wired. You'll notice that brown and orange wire colors are called out. Just make sure that your connections are consistent with the ones you made in the freezer. Don't be intimidated-- if you can read a roadmap, you can read a wiring diagram.

Scott,

Seems I might "have it" ... is it possible the extra terminal we have might be the "test plug" terminal?  I did not seem to have that in the other unit.  If so, the kit I purchased gives a cover and a tie wrap to secure same.

thanks, Karl

being left over...possible "test plug"

yes, it's a test plug, just tie it out of the way and your all set.

Thank you for all of your help. My refrigerator is back on line and running.

I especially would like to thank the Fermented Grand Master for all his infinite patience in dealing with this situation. I tested all of his resolve in learning not only about my thermostat but also the proper protocol and procedures in utilizing this resource.

I am most impressed with the ability of this site to respond to my situation, diagnose it and "fix it now", all for much less and much quicker than a service call would have entailed.

Thank you again for all of your help.
