Two months ago I went on a call and found the fill tube frozen and water had ran down the evap coils and froze.  Defrosted everthing and found no further problems.

Friday I went back out and the fill tube was clear, however water had leaked on the evap coils again. Is there a possibility that the fill tube bursted the first time? There was no extra ice in the freezer section so I have to eliminate the water valve.

You have a leaky water inlet valve. Probably sediment or gookus got in that valve preventing it from closing completely and consistently. Need to replace that water inlet valve.

Thanks, I went ahead and replaced the water valve as I had some extras from icemaker kits.  thanks for the repy

You mean you already did that previously but you're still having the same problem?

No, before I left I repaced the water valve as I was thinking like you that the valve caused the problem.  I second guessed myself later on the way home because I couldnt figure how the ice was on the inside of the evap cover. Looks like it would be in the freezer section instead.  I just did this job friday so it has not had time to freze up again (last defrost lasted 2 months).

Thanks........

it's possible that the fill tube has a small split in it. Just cycle the icemaker several times and watch, should be easy to spot.
