Anyone got any idea what the tube of mastic is for when replacing this icemaker? Never replaced one of these icemakers before  but it looks like it's going to be a real pain in the @$$. Compartment is only about 4" wider than the icemaker.

I wonder if it gets applied to the left side of the icemaker, the mounting face, so it makes good thermal contact with the side of the freezer to speed up freezing. Do you have the icemaker? Look on the mountain face side. Also, when you pull the old one out, you may see thermal mastic residue on its mounting face-- this, of course, would be good hint. ;)

These usually aren't too bad to work on. Yeah, the space is small but usually the mounting screws are readily accessible. 'Course, this model may be the one designed in Hell. :yikes:

You called it.:yikes: Designed in hell by mutants whose eyeball have to be on stalks so they can see around corners and they have to have arms like an octupus to find screw holes and  access holes for wiring and capillary tube.  Besids that, the damn aluminum mastic gets all over everything in the process. Have changed out plenty of ice makers over the years but this one has been the biggest pain in the @$$ of them all. Bill will include aggravation factor. :burning:
