GE Electric Wall Oven JTP15BW1BB

I am troubleshooting this electric wall oven.  Error code indicates problem with sensor.  I tried to remove it using the two screws to test the resistance (around 1100 ohms).  There is only one wire that cannot be removed from the sensor.  I pulled the wire out of the cabinet but stopped when there was resistance.  The small hole in the cabinet doesn't seem like a connector could go through.  I didn't want to force it.   The pictures of the replacement sensor showed two wires, I think.   How do I test this or remove it for testing. When should I suspect a bad ERC?

Thanks,

Lenny in Austin.

here is a good link with almost  the same topic your posting about..if you drop the front panel you will be able to access the back side of the wiring harness where it actually plugs to the board, this will make it easier and not have to worry about breaking the clip....

The customer need this working by Saturday (short notice, huh)  Anyway I ordered both the Sensor and the ERC from RepairClinic.com overnight.  I'm prepared to replace both.  You said that the sensor plugs into the ERC.  The connector in the ERC has 5 pins.  One on the left separated by a space then 4 more.  I also sortof screwed up when I removed the ERC from the oven.  Seems like I left a wire off of my diagram that I skeched.  Can you help me with the correct wiring diagram with which color wire goes to which terminal?  I have attached some photos.  Maybe one terminal is not used and does not have a wire connected to it.  Ther terminals are {BAKE, BROIL, L1B, AUX2, AUX1, OVL2, OVL1 L1A, N, and Ground}  I know that the Yellow goes to Bake, The violet goes to Broil.  L1B - a black jumper to L1A or N?,  Green screw, ground of course,  OVL

I have done one of these before.  Wasn't much fun then either :-)

Thanks,

Lenny in Austin

most of the new boards when they come will have a schematic/ diagram with it...as some of these have to swap wires, from one post to another...also if I remember correctly they will have coloed dots that will correspond with the wire color....if not the wiring schematic with the oven will list each wire and its correct location...glad you ordered it from RC if you don't end up needing both you can return what you don't need....I'll see if I can locate the diagram for you
