I'm not even sure what it is! Is this one of those propane-burning mosquito traps?

I've seen those, friends of ours have one. Those things are pricey. Are they worth the money?

What's the malfunction?

Starts, runs for a few hours shuts down. Sucked up the mosquitos when it ran.

How old is the unit? If it's been used much, the burner may just need cleaning.

How would I go about that?

I've not worked on one nor do I have specific info on it, but I have a very good understanding of how gas appliances work. Sounds like the problem here may be that the fuel air mixture is off a bit and so the flame is not hot enough to keep the thermobulb properly heated which, in turn, keeps the gas valve open.

There will be a brass metering orifice in the burner tube, this usually gets gooked up over time and needs to be removed from the burner, flushed out with alcohol and blown through with compressed air.

These are simple devices and come apart pretty easily if you take a moment and eyeball it.

Another idea is to contact the manufacturer directly-- they're usually pretty good about giving tech support either over the phone or sending/faxing you some tech info.
