Carrier Nat. Draft Gas fierd furnace shutting off....

My furnace is acting up. It will start up only after I shut it off (at the furnace) and turn it on again. Then it shuts off before reaching temperature.

I'm not sure if it's the thermostat (there's 2 of them) the "two zone HVAC controller" or something with the furnace itself. The furnace is located in the attic and not easy to get to.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

what's the model number ?

Model #58GSC065-JB

I have to climb up into the attic, turn it "off" then "on" again for it to light, and then it only works fo a few minutes or so.

Update:

The wife called a repair man out. He says the problem is the HSC Igniter lockout control. He wanted $300 for the part +$200 labor. The wife found the part locally for $200.

Hopefully this will solve the problem.

i would try to clean the flame sensor first a short cycle with a normal call for heat usaly means the control is saying the furnace has lost flame and after several retrys it goes into what is called lockout status then you must kill the power and the restore the power (dirty flame sensor) clean with sanding cloth or finger nail board , if you have the older model where the pilot assy has 3 wires that come from bottom of the pilot then you will need to replace the pilot assy
