Dyson D17

My friend brought over her Dyson D17 vacuum for me to look at,  It runs fine with the tools but to take it out of the upright position and vacuum with the power head you step on the area where the power head is located and you should be able to lower the handle for use.  Well the left side unlatches but the right side (sides in reference to standing behind the vacuum) remains locked and will not release.  Does anyone have any information on this.  I located a support page for dyson but they deal with the D12 not locking in the upright position but not one that is locked in the upright position.

Noticed that vacuums are not on this site individually but thought someone might have an idea.

Thanks Pip

OOps I ment to post under General forum!!  Sorry
