the compressor is hot and trys to start then kicks off.. checked the pins on compressor with the ohms  all within 10 omhs did'nt check for the ground but will do it .. but if the start relay went bad would the compressor get hot just trying to start?:yikes:

Yes........go ahead and check it

just re-read your post and saw where he terminals ohmed out at 10 and thats alittle high for my likeing (3 - 6 would be good)...all compressors are different though and that could be within spec

shake the relay, if it rattles then it's bad, but still check the terminals to ground on the compressor for piece of mind.
