Whirlpool GU2300XTKQ0 dishwasher

This should be an easy one... but somehow can't seem to fix it.

The door springs/hinges are reeeeealy noisy.  They groan every time I open or close the dishwasher door, awaking my young children.

How do I return these to their like-new silentness?

Can't see any way to get at the springs/hinges themselves.

If you remove the kickplates, you'll see the door levers and attached springs right there on either side. Just replace both springs with OEM parts and you'll probably solve the problem. They're very inexpensive, too.

So replacement (rather than repair) is the way to go?

Wasn't sure whether some well-placed grease would do the trick (not that I'd know where to put it -- between the coils of the springs?

You'll know better what to do after you get some eyeballs on the springs. Usually, they get all rusty and gnarly-- this is what causes the noise, I think. Sure, you have nothing to lose by spraying some WD-40 on 'em. I think it would be a temporary fix and you'll end up replacing 'em anyway. Or just periodically re-lubing 'em.
