RCA Range LGB356GEV3WH

Client has multiple problems with this range.

The ONE he wants fixed is the front left burner which ignites, then goes out with a pop.

The right rear burner just puts out the tiniest flame. Burner itself is not clogged, trading orifices didn't do anything.

The clock is supposedly going too.

I'm trying to dissuade him from fixing it. But need advice on diagnosing and fixing, and whether it's worth it.

Looking up the serial number, it was made in 1985, or 1997. He says it's ten years old. It's not pretty by any means.

Retail on clock - $135 (Sears $170) plus trip charge and labor puts it at $250+

Now add time & possible parts for repairing the burners easily takes it to $300-350

Just the estimate should be enough to make up his mind....

Do any of the burners work properly? Are the orifices plugged? It is possible that the lines to the burners are kinked if the customer tried lifting the top without disconnecting the burner brackets first.

Two burners work OK, they aren't connected to the top so you can raise it without messing it up.

I traded out some orifices and the same problem happened. I wonder if I traded out the bad orifice for another that was going bad. I could see right through it.

Does it seem like orifices or valves? or what? If the simmer burner is always dead low, and now the other one pops off? What should I look for?
