Hmm, good question! I don't know the answer but I do know that I see it all the time. My guess is that the manufacturers would have no problem with it in this context because it promotes their brand.

I think you should check with the manufacturers.

They wouldn't want just anyone using their logos.

frigidaire only allows authorized servicers to use their logo on ads or trucks, its stated in their policy/procedure manual that all logos must be removed after a warranty contract is terminated by either party

Well.... I'm tempted just to do it,  to see what happens.  But, Maybe I'll call a couple on Monday and see what kind of reaction I get.

 Thanks

yeah, all manufactures require you to be an authorized servicer before you can promote their logo.

i havn't gotten frigidaire warranty depot status for the company i own yet(small city and they dont need another depot) so i didn't use their logo, i did do the next best thing... i used the same font as the frigidaire name :), and so far from the flyers i have sent out(that dont mention frigidaire) i am finding the majority of calls i get are for frigidaires, well and maytags cause i cheated a bit there with the name Mayday, its close enough ppl see it and think maytag

i used the same blue in my business name as frigidaire too, we'll see in june when my yellow pages ad starts if the lil subliminal message really works or not

I actually spent a fair amount of time looking into this same question myself when I was working on my yellow pages add, and asked both the yellow pages rep and the Whirlpool zone rep. The Whirlpool guy said that technically you need to be an authorized rep to use their logo in any advertising but he sure didn't sound very adament about it.

The yellow pages rep said they would insert any images I provided and that it was between me and the individual manufacurers to determine if I was actually entitled to use it or not. In other words, the yellow pages just wanted my money they didn't really care what images my add contained.

I know of several service companies in my area that use various company logos, yet I know for a fact that not all of them are authorized by all of the companys whose logos they use.

So the conclusion of my research is that it is technically probably not 100% legal, but it is a grey area and it is a civil matter at worse, definately not criminal. Secondly, the manufacurers don't seem to enforce the rule, the yellow pages certainly do not, so who is enforcing it? Probably nobody cares that much one way or the other was my final conclusion.

Kind of like jaywalking on a deserted street. Is it legal? Technically no. Are you gonna get caught? Probably not. Even if there was a cop sitting there watching you, would he interupt his donut break long enough to give you a ticket for something as minor as jaywalking? Very unlikely.
