I currently have a manual thermostat and would like to go to programmable.  Looking at the ATX 1500 that Ace Hardware sells (rated very high by consumers).  Will this application fit my XL14i?

Thanks in advance

XL14   tells me nothing about your unit except you have a 14 seer heat pump  . what i need to know is on the old thermostat is there a emergcy heat sw or setting anywhere on any switch ?   is there any lights anywhere ,that light up at any time ? these qustions will tell me #1 if you have heat strips anywhere in system and need a 2 stage heat thermostat  #2 if you have a common wire in your present thermostat . better yet can you post a photo of the thermostat you presently have

Hello, and thanks for your reply

The Trane Heat Pump is the XL14i

The existing thermostat is: Enerstat Series 450; model X1.  It is a manual thermostat, although the unit has two settings--day and nite--just has to be switched manually.  When the temperature goes below a certain degree, the furnace kicks in and that is indicated by "emerg ht" and a red light on top of the unit.

If this is not enough info, please let me know.

the thermostat you want to use will not work .it only has single stageing for your heat and you need two stage heat ....."honeywell  visionpro " thermostat is a real nive one ,i have one on my wall for about 4 years now with no problems .  white rogers  makes one too . these thermostats  will need programing when there installed to match the system you have  so there realy not a DIY  project  .  if you do the honeywell i am sure you will love it ,the thermostat can do so much ( temp, auto changeover, humidification , dehumidification . service reminders ect ..... this one will bring out the NERD in you , it did ME ) ....
