Friggy Affinity washer m#atf6000es1 error code E-47 defective control board...

Hello all,..I got a service call for a front load washer that wont spin....get there no, error code??...I put in diagnostic mode and pulled up a error code of E-47 wich says in the tech sheet..."Check"... "remove the door lock assembly and measure the resistance of the PTC ..."Correction".. "shorted or open...defective door lock" or "reads 1500 ohms..defective control board"

I removed the door lock assembly and ohmed out the PTC and it ohmed out at 1573 ohms...heres my question...what board are they talking about????? I feel like a idiot asking this question...lol.....

How reliable are the codes on these machine? Should I trust them with this repair?

Thanks in advance!!!

the control board is the board on the front of the machine behind the controls

the error codes are not the greatest on the affinity, i have seen board errors displayed when all that was wrong was a broken pump wire

make sure the door boot is attached properly and the door is closing when you test it next, cause you have to test the latch while it is out of the machine, if the door doesn't close correctly the machine thinks the latch is defective

i've seen quite a few affinity washers that had doors that wouldn't stay closed unless you put your knee against them while you hit start

I should mention that when I put it threw the test sequence I put in a test where the drain pump and door lock solenoid will actvate and the washer will operate on high spin.....it drains and the door locks then it spins on high speeed fo a minute or so then errors out with a code E-47....???..

Brnt toast do you think it could be something other than the board,..I tried to open the door "on highspin test mode" and it would not open...does that mean anything to you??...Is it like the maytag atlantis tl where you would have to push the lid for it to latch closed for it to start?...I did try to run it threw a cycle and it did the whole cycle except the spin of course...lol..

thanks for your help eh...

I had one of these that gave an error code that said bad board, replace controller and it was just a bad PTC/Wax motor in the door lock.

Put the machine in the final spin cycle and turn it on, the pump should start pumping and if it was working correctly it should start spinning, (yours won't because that is where you're having problems).  Wait about 1 - 2 minutes and pull the plug and try to immediately open the door, if the PTC/wax motor is working correctly the door should stay locked for about 2 minutes, (the time it takes the wax motor to cool down and retract).  If the door is able to be openned immediately after pulling the plug, you need to replace the door latch/lock assembly and it should fix your problem.

Hey Budget thanks for the tip!...what if I cant open the door? Does that mean that the door latch assembly is ok,... and that it IS the the board (the board behind the buttons and lights on the console)

I don't want to order the board if thats not the problem...lol..

Thanks for the help once again guys!!!

If you can't open the door until you've waited at least 1-2 minutes then the door latch assembly most likely is ok, only way to know for sure is to check the actual contacts and coils.

I've never seen a main control board go out in one of these, most of the time if it won't spin or tumble/agitate it's the door lock/latch or the motor control board.

Now Im lost..lol...the door does lock, and stays locked for about 90 seconds after I unplug it... I dont know if I should replace the main control board or the speed control board???...

I find it strange that I can get it to go into high speed spin on the diagnostic test but it also errors out after a minute or so with "error 47".... would it do that if one the boards was bad?

Thanks again.

Well, don't know what to tell you, sounds like the door latch/lock is ok, (90 seconds is the perfect timing usually for the wax motor to retract).

Since it does spin, it sounds like more likely the main computer behind the control panel, (usually if the motor controller is bad you don't get any spin).

Have you check the tach on the motor?  If the tachometer is bad it won't give the correct feedback, I don't know what kind of error that would throw.
