I am hoping someone can help with this one.

Unit is dead. No display, no lights, no sound. Outlet is good. Check continuity from plug end to board, OK. Check P-10 connection seems fine. Manual says replace interface, if that doesn't do it, replace board also. plug will arc pretty good at outlet when plugging in, so something must be trying to draw power. Also stator tested 31.6 ohms at board connector. Should be 16 ? Double checked motor windings at the motor, 31.6 ohms again.

So it looks to me like the unit has multiple problems. Can a bad motor take out the control board or interface? Or vis versa

I guess my plan would be to quote a stator and interface, and if that doesn't do it, replace the control board also. Am I heading in the right direction ?

if quoting for a retail customer the ole "if this doesn't fix it then replace this"  isn't going to fly with most customers especially with the price of those parts. You and the customer would be better off to replace stator and control and interface. The customer and you will both be satisfied, rather than losing the confidence if you have to go back...unless they know and agree to it up front....my 2 cents.

Thanks 29501, I agree that would maybe be the best way to handle that.  Even though this unit is a year out of warranty the customer understandably would like to try to recoup his loss through Sears. So he will be calling an authorized dealer to try to work something out.

Do you have any experience with these DC type motors on the Cabrio and what would be considered out of spec for winding ohms?

Thanks

Mike
