Kenmore Dryer Model # 110.78932790

I thought I had an easy problem, but no! I have a dryer that the motor runs when you hold the Push to start switch (PTS) in, but stops as soon as you release the button.  Of course I thought that it was the PTS switch.  Not!  How does this momentary or Push to start switch work in the circuit?

Thanks,

Wan

Thanks Pegi! I suspect the motor/heat relay #37.  I have power going in and nothing coming out to the board.  Can you explain how the PTS switch works.

Gives power to the common and start terminals on the motor switch, motor switch takes the motor from start to run, then PTS switch is out of the system unless is a PTS relay also which the coil would hold the switch in for tumble press, wrinkle guard, etc...

There should be 120v AC across the Relay Coil Terminal Wires - Pink/Black & Pink/Black during /after pushing PTS

If there's voltage there, then the Relay is bad, if not ..... Controller

The heater relay and the motor relay are identical parts (same part number, even). So, an easy check is to simply swap relays and see if the motor runs properly.
