OK. So then I guess I'll keep the coils for testing in other cases.

I guess though if I'd tested the flame sensor switch before I would have found it but from what you say it is so uncommon and I guess you wouldn't waste the time ripping the whole machine apart if it's a 98% chance to be the coils. But then I guess you have a whole truck full of parts handy if you're wrong and don't have to wait for delivery to test out your idea.

Some problems are hard to diagnose, and like you said, while you have it apart...

It may be helpful to watch a working gas dryer operate and read and try to understand the operatrion of the Igniter / Coils (but it's complicated, but designed for safety reasons)...
