Older Carrier HVAC

Hey guys:

I love this forum.

It has saved me ton of money..

and I love to work on stuff and learn..

Well I have older carrier unit,, 1993ish.

I posted a few months and was given help on replacing the start cap, which I did and the unit has worked great.

The current problem is a humming noise.

The fan blower goes on the unit never fires up.

I took the cover off and used a tube and one of the relay boxes is humming, it sounds like it is trying to connect but can not..

I took a picture and labeled which one was making noise..

Is this hard to replace?

Do I need to replace it?

Were does the common man, non HVAC tech get parts?

Thanks so much..

Paul

Check the low voltage to the coil. These will usually come from the transformer. 24V. is what you need

Thank you so much for replng..

I have a real Novice question:

What color would that wire be that I need to test?

Where is the coil / Transformer?

Is it right in front of my eyes and I am not seeing it!!!  :)

Thanks..

dont do anything if you are just hearing a noise . this is the reversing valve relay . it might make a noise as it gets older , this is normal .  are you getting cold air when you should be getting heat ? if i understand your post somethings not turning on ?  the relays shown have nothing to do with something not turning on , only if the system will blow heat or ac WHEN TURNED ON AND RUNNING

Thanks for replying...

Yes getting Cold air when heat should be on...

Any ideas what it could be?

The only noise i hear is from that relay I pointed to in my picture... It just humms, maybe sounds more like clicking...

What can I do to help us figure this out???

Thanks
