Won't light - Carrier 58PAV055-GC

The furnace works fine sometimes.  Then sometimes the Igniter comes on, glows good, the three burners come on, all good for a few seconds, then pooo, burners go out.  Then the cycle starts over.  Sometimes takes one more try or two to light or  stops to attempt lighting after 3 or so trys.  After it stops attempting to light, the only way I can get it to light is by turning off the digital thermostat and letting it sit for a little bit.  Then, run the temp up to say 75 and turn it on.  If it isn't ready to cooperate yet, nothing happens.  If it is ready to cooperate, it lights.

Thanks in advance.  A friend of mine recommeded this site after a few great experiences.

**Furnace has a new board.  Old board was replaced in attempt to solve this problem.

Steel Wool works best, first furnace with flame sensor problem I thought I knew what the problem was and emory paper would be fine.  Worked a little better but didn't fix it.  All the ones I've cleaned with steel wool have worked fine, (no more trying to clean flame sensors with sandpaper or emory cloth for me!!!)

Make the sensor rod look nice/shiney and smooth.
