Owner broke outer glass on oven door moving the unit. Has double sided tape holding old glass in place. Anyone know if this is standard double sided tape or special heat resistant. Nothing listed in any parts diagrams I've accessed.:headscratch:

I'd have to think the tape was put on some other time. I've never see the outer glass panels on this type of door have any type of tape holding them in place. Maybe from the last time they broke it...

I've ran across many Frigidaire with the same type setup, glass in front of metal frame with two small pieces of double sided tape, one on each side.

The new glass has never came with the tape and I haven't used any tape and haven't ever had a problem with them, the framing usually holds everything together once everything is tightened down.  It may aid in initial assembly keeping parts aligned.

Thanks guys. Owner had already disassembled door so I'm not sure what role the tape plays. There are two pieces about three inches long on either side of each corner and two shorter pieces on all four sides between the corners. It is approximately 3/16" thick. Replacement for glass and plastic 'trim' piece that also broke are slightly different from the original. Owner bought parts so I'm assuming he got the correct parts from Whirlpool dealer. Sure would have been nice to have been able to disassemble myself so I would know how it put it back together. Guess this is another bill that will reflect "Degree of difficulty". Gotta' luv a challenge.
