LG fridge model# LDN20718ST ice maker problems....

Hello all!

I have this fridge ice maker that I'm dealing with, its warranty work with no support from warranty company...Grrrrr!...

Its a fridge with the freezer on the bottom with the "custom cube" ice maker. There is water to the fridge and I have tested the water solenoid and it provides water when fed voltage. I have reset the ice maker by holding down the "cube size" button for 3-5 seconds......waited 2 days,.... customer still doesn't have any ice!..this is the second ice maker in this fridge and still no ice.....

Can any one suggest a course of action? maybe some trouble shooting tips for this unit?.....I loved the old whirlpool ice makers,....this one is driving me crazy! I don't know where to start....

Thanks again all in advance!

The info I have is : holding the button down for 3 sec. or so should start a complete cycle -- harvest , water inject , park . Don't know if it has a faulty "ice bucket full" sensor or a faulty pcb that supplies power to the ice maker.

the fuse for the icemaker is part of the icemaker, so if the icemaker is already new i would suspect the board or broken wire from board to icemaker

i didn't find that exacty model on the LG site, but a similar unit lists the yellow wire as constant power for the icemaker, check this wire at the ice maker plug inside the freezer for 120v, if you have no voltage there, check yellow wire on con2 at the board, this way you will know if its the board or a wire inside the cabinet

double check the wire diagram on the back of the unit to make sure those are the correct color and connector for your exact model

also that same connector 2 on the board has the blue neutral wires for the icemaker and the water valve, so if you find you have your constant power to the icemaker check those 2 blue wires for contuity

remember, whenever you power a component with a test cord, you have not checked any wiring to that component, you only tested the valve itself

Found the problem!!!! Thanks in part to Brnt Toast and my new apprentice technician ...lol...

I decided to check voltage at the connection where the water valve  and condenser fan motor plugs into,.... that's the one that's encased in foam and just peaking out from the water valve area...low and behold once I had unplugged the condenser fan and water valve there was pins for the condenser fan motor but NO PINS for the water valve to plug into!!!!!!!! had to get a mirror to make sure!!!...lol..  This fridge is new and was sold with a ice maker and all components for the ice maker....no wiring for the ice maker on the harness! This a warranty job and there is no way that I can think of that would be acceptable to the customer as a retro fix....as he is a veteran hot-tub tech...lol.
