Kenmore Laundry Center Model # 417.90802990

I have a Kenmore Laundry Center Model # 417.90802990 that sometimes the final spin works normal and then the next time it's like it's way out of balance.  It shakes so bad you would think it's going to blow, and then the belt starts squeeking as it is shaking.  Then the next time you use it it might be back to normal.  Everything under the hood seems to be in good condition.  There are 3 springs holding down the tub, that can be adjusted to add or remove tension.  I adjusted them with no changes.  Other than that there are no signs of anything broken or worn out.  Any input on what may be the culprit?  As always all of your input is appreciated.

friggy laundry center

check the 2 bolts under the agitator that secure the wash tub to the trunion, they like to snap

also check to make sure the shipping bolt was removed, it goes in from under the base(has a yellow head) and bolts up to the bottom of the milking stool, i've seen machines used for years with this bolt still in

also give a good check to all spot welds on the milking stool, the welds cn let loose and cause offbalance situations, its hard to see so look close and give a good wiggle

if you find the shipping bolt in an older friggy you should prolly change the snubber ring, also if there is even a slight oil leak and that snubber has oil on it you will have a machine that goes out of wack

last, make sure the rear self-leveler has not torn away from the base

Thanks, I'll check those out and let you know what I find out.

The shipping bolt was still in place.  I ran the machine and it was running much better.  Do I have to tear that whole machine apart to change the snubber ring?  I can't even see where it is to check if it has oil on it!

snubber ring hides right under the milking stool, (its burried between the to parts that bolt were holding togeather)

dont bother w/teardown unless the customer calls back, removal of bolt usually fixes the problem

yet another case of someone "not needing to read the instructions" when the machine was new, missed 2 minute job causes so many so much grief

you'd see the oil in other places if its a leaker, so you should be ok there, only issue might be premature wear to the snubber caused by the shipping bolt, if the customer calls back post and i'll give you my tricks to get at the snubber, pray its all good cause the snubber job on laundry centers is a PITA
