I found this refrig with a hot fresh food compartment,a very cold freezer and a broken damper linkage just like I read about in an official Samurai post. My question is this - does the damper motor reverse itself to open/close or just spin further in the same direction? Looking at the cam assembly it looked like it would work either way but there are 3 wires going to the motor and I had 120 volts across 2 of em. I tried reversing the motor wires and still nothing out of the motor.

I thought it was a little odd that the linkage would break AND the motor go bad at the same time...hmm, unless the linkage broke and THEN the board kept  kept the motor spinning trying to get cold air into the fresh food section, which leads me to another question - just how smart are these little circuit boards and are they feeding all of our private information to big brother when we're not looking?  CuzzinSam

Hello, my official friend. Damper assembly failure was a common problem with this model. The failure mechanism was that the damper vanes would freeze into position from frozen condensate and the next time the motor was operated, the vane linkage would shear. Replace the damper assembly and check the door gaskets for proper seal to reduce unwanted humidity (and condensation) inside the compartment.

Page 1 of the Wiring Diagram mentions 120v AC, and there's an internal Switch (the extra wire)

so that wouldn't be a reversing motor
