Maytag Dryer #MDE7400AYW

Checked unit yesterday. Set cycle and pull start knob. Light on moisture sensor lights up but motor doesn't start. Thermal fuses check OK. Door switch checks OK.  Guessing either timer or motor. Does motor have internal or external start capacitor? Could it be bad start switch in timer? Guest said that dryer did run in air fluff cycle last night for short time then quit again.

You'll need see if the motor circuit is getting voltage. This test can be made in the control panel-- the wiring diagram in the tech sheet will show where. Post a legible copy of your wiring diagram. 200kb attachment size limit here but can use a free file hosting service and post the link here.

(N)eutral from Door Switch seems to be OK, since Dryness Control Board works ...

Check voltage from both sides of both Thermal Fuses to ground (chassis) ...

Thanks guys. Turned out to be the timer. Used jumper on pins 4 and 5 to determine motor was good. Knob on timer took a while to figure out how to remove. Damn engineers are gettin' trickier all the time.
