Hot surface light won't go out. Wiring diagram indicates four sensors. Parts diagram shows none. Question? Is the sensor a part of the element? If so, how do you check it?

Part of the Burner Limit Switches ... (attached to Element)

One Hot Surface Sensor Switch shown on the Schematic Diagram

.. as shown on the Wiring Diagram, one side of Hot Surface Indicator (far left) is wired to Neutral, the other side is connected to each of the Limit Switches.

If any of the Burner Limit Swiches is hot, (or shorted switch), the

Hot Surface Indicator will come ON.

Sorta what I figured. So I guess we live with the light on or replace the burner element that is causing the problem huh'. Elements appear to work OK even though the light stays on after they cool down. Gonna' let the owner make the call...the elements are expensive.

Should be OK... Hot Surface Indicator is just  a warning that they are hot.

As long as the Surface Indicator works that lets them know if any are turned ON.

(or you could move / disconnect that Surface Burner completely ...)

which Burner ?

Not sure which burner. Would have to remove top to find out. Will give customer info and let them decide if it's worth the trouble. Burners appear to work OK, light just stays on all the time.

make sure you give the disclaimer and write it on your invoice

this can be a safety concern, cause after ppl get used to the light always being on, they may become careless and burn themselves simply cause with the light always on the safety feature is useless

Thanks Toast. Will explain this to owner and suggest they place a note on the range to that effect.
