Alas, the problem has been solved, but the cause is not concluded. Error code 01 is remedied by replacing the sensor assembly. Not terribly difficult.

BUT, there is a humidity sensor and what looks to be a thermistor on the small sensor board that goes up front on the evaporator coil, a small metal tube that clamps to the return line, and the bucket switch wire harness all bundled up in the sensor assembly, so the actual problem was not resolved. Anybody know whats in the metal tube clamped to the return line? I presume it is a temperature sensitive device but what?

Where do you reference Error Codes for that model ?

Posted

"I" referenced on the two character display on the front panel, then started searching the cloud. I found nothing that showed that or any other error code, but did find someone that said they replaced a sensor assembly to fix it. I happened to have the assembly and it indeed did fix it. The service manual (on a related post on this site) did not have any error codes listed in the LG equivalent. So, I stuck in this topic to see who knows what about it. And if the wise and sublime and auspicious RegUS... doesn't know, I am afraid I have failed in my quest!
