Haven't seen any Bosch units, but a few other mfr's - all I have seen have some sort of filter proving switches between the up/down switch and the retracting motor, they are usually some flimsy microswitches with a springloaded actuator located in the face of the fan. When these fail in the down position, one must go to the motorbox located under the cupboards, disconnect the motor drive and manually wind it up using a socket drive etc, once it is in the up position, you will be able to locate the switches, if there are no filters, there is no action

Hey Reg, need manual for the DHD965AUC. PM to jambatt5@aol.com. Thanks for the info kdog. This unit doesn't seem to have a way to manually raise the filters.

Thanks Reg. Looks like I gotta' take the unit completely out of counter to get into it.

Usually you can remove some drawers from the counter to get at the lower mechanism, or clear out a few cupboards - the mechanisms and the fan are mounted down below

Thanks again kdog. This unit has to be completely removed to access the lower circuit board. Cook top was easy to remove. Much better access with it removed. Exhaust fan can be seperated from vent unit without disconnecting exhaust hose and the rest of the unit can be lifted out of the counter for much easier access.
