My new (used) Miele dishwasher cleans well and runs programs in the correct time frames but it seems to have a few strange habits.

It seems to "click" and run the drain pump quite a lot. While it's filling it will click, run the pump for a few seconds, click, stop the pump, fill a bit more, click, click, click, click, click, lather, rinse, repeat, and finally start into the wash program.

I'm wondering if the service manual has any insights as to this behavior. Anyone have a copy I could peruse?
