Frigidaire Model FWS445RFS2

I have a Frigidaire washer Mod # FWS445RFS2 that the customer says that the basket is banging all over the machine during the spin cycle.  I tryed it once empty and once with a load in it and both times it worked fine.

I've seen washers that have four straps on top that hold the top portion of the tub and have broke before, but this machine doesn't have them.  Is there anything besides the springs that keep the basket stable and centered during the spin cycle?  I had a problem one time where the shipping bolt wasn't removed , but that is not the case here.

Thanks,

Wan

So, correct me if I'm wrong.  The tub is attached to the leg and dome assembly.   It doesn't look like there is anything under the leg and dome assembly that would limit the movement of the tub.  So, are the springs the only thing that keep the tub and spin basket stable?

There's a snubber ring, (I believe ref#17), under the leg and dome assembly.

Check to make sure none of the welds are broken on any parts of the milk stool, (at the bottom where the doom attaches to the legs and where the legs attach to the the bearing/motor mount plate).

Also make sure the spin basket hub isn't loose on the transmission spin tube.  These machines are know for breaking the hub trunnion  bolt heads off which will then let the tub come loose and then it will bang around and chew up the top splash guard ring.

  • 2 weeks later...

another problem that will cause the friggy toploads to bang is improper setup

namely failure to remove the factory shipping bolt, if you lean the machine against the wall and look dead center from under the washer you should NOT see a bolt with a yellow head, if you do see it, you need to remove it
