The fan is running outside, but no air inside.  I've done plenty of HVAC repairs on my furnace, but this is my first A/C issue.  I don't even know where to start.

I'll apologize in advance for the dumbass questions I'll ask at some point.  :D

model number ?

is the Compressor running ?

does your Thermostat have a switch that can turn the inside Fan ON constantly?

does that work ?

  1. Compressor is running, it's the blower motor/air handler that's not running.
  2. It's the same blower that's in my furnace which is a model number is GUIO070CA30 (The O after the I may be a D).
  3. The fan blades turn OK, but the motor that runs the fan isn't starting.
  4. Can I test the starting capacitor?  It's not bulging or leaking.  I ohmed it out at 2000K with a digital multimeter.  It started at 0 and rose gradually to 2000K plus.
  5. Even when I turn the fan to ON, not auto, the blower still won't kick on.

Nope, blower doesn't kick on when I turn it to heat either.

GUID070CA30 Technical Information

check for voltage on the Blower HI Terminal ...

After disconnecting & discharging the Capacitor, you can somewhat check it by using a high ohm setting on your OHM Meter.

test in one direction, then reverse the probes and test to see if you get a reading that starts to slowly increase.

  1. 24-26 Volts AC at the transformer (see pic)
  2. No Voltage at Cool (See pic) (Blk-#26-blower Hi)
  3. No Diagnostic LED flash either.

Does this mean my board is fried?

It was the board.

:pisser:

In the interest of being done with it, not having to wait a day, and having to fix one more F-IN thing that broke, I sold my dignity and and called a repairman.

Who promptly gave me a dose of "prison love".  We call it "prison love" because there's nothing consensual about.  $471 installed!!!! I can order it online with free overnight shipping for $110.  I asked him, how come I can order it online for 1/3rd of that?  He says, "They don't put it in, and that price includes the 1 year warranty."  1 year warranty?  You're F-in kidding right?  Isn't that like offering a 5,000 mile warranty on a brand new car?

I'm almost done ranting.  This is why I use this site, and why I hate letting people work on my stuff.

[glow=orange]The bright side?[/glow]  Yes, there is one.  My A/C is fixed.
