Unit has burned the wires off the timer on the same side of connector four times in the past three years. Replaced black wire(L2) from Point B on the timer to the connector two weeks ago. Today the orange wire(thermostat and heater circuit) burned off between Point A on the timer and the connector. Always occurs on the timer side of the connector. Wires on other side of connector not affected. Is this a timer problem or connector problem??? Can't seem to pin down the cause.  Don't want to replace timer if not necessary. Any suggestions.  Have wiring diagram but can't figure out how to post it. Too big to send as attachment.

Wires (and Connectors) will overheat if there is a bad/loose/dirty connection

OR

if the Terminal has already overheated to a point where the copper is now oxidized ...

Thanks Reg. Cut out OEM connetor and replaced with new ones. We'll see if that cures the beast.

Are the timer terminals discolored? As Reg. Stated termial and connector would need to be of good integrity. At the minimum if the timer terminals are discolored from a bad connection you may want to clen them throughly with some emery cloth.
