OK the broiler in this puppy is acting up. Turn it on it takes a long time 3-5 minutes for the valve to open sometimes the flame is normal for a min or so then get's small. And other times it sputters.

So like a good parts changing monkey, I changed the ignitor, I hads a feeling it wasn't the ignitor and it wasn't. So I checked voltage to see if it was fluctuating as the size of the flame changed. It didn't. So I tapped the back of the stove where the double valve is and flame went back to normal size.

I'm assuming bad valve. Spring must be week or somethin inside. As I don't run into sputtering broilers often I wanted to see what U guys think before ordering a valve. Also is there anyway to check this for sure or do I need to go by experience on this one ?

Thanx fer yer help- Dan The appliance man

Has this Oven been in storage or been disconnected from the Gas line for a long time ?

Everything you describe is the signs of a weak ignitor.

Did you take an amp reading from the old ignitor and now the new one that you installed that is doing the same thing.

If the ignitor is pulling the correct amperage then only thing it can be is a bad valve or a clogged up orifice.

I didn't take a reading of the old ignitor. The new one is pulling 3.2 after it's hot. It takes the flame about 2 to 3 minutes to go from normal to about half of normal. I haven't ordered the valve yet, but I'm getting ready to. Unless someone tells me not to or to check sometin else. I hate educated guess work. Thanx fer the help....Dan
