Delonghi DDE 50E dehumidifier error E3

This is a 2 YR old electronic unit W/O pump.

I have been trying to figure out what the error code E3 is on this unit to no avail.

Nothing in the book of course and have not been able to find anyone who knows.

I don't know what the values on the sensors should be, so cannot tell if they are the cause.:?

The unit powers, fan runs but, the relay on the power board for the compressor is not closing (or is not being told to).

If I was able to narrow it down, I would be able to "Repair or Replace".

I think this is not an uncommon issue, so hopefully there is someone out there that can help me.

Thanks in advance,

Col H

Try warming the small thermister that is clipped to the evaporator with your fingers while the unit runs, there is a delay for a few minutes before the compressr will try to start, by warming the thermistor, the unit should be calling for cooling - can you hear the compressor try and start?

kdog,

Thanks for the input. Did not think that would be the issue with room temp being about 78*F. Tried it anyway, no response.

The code is there upon plugging unit in, even if you are just running the fan.

If the sensor itself is bad, how to tell without just "parts changing". I am  an diagnostition from way back and am strickly against this practice, but must have some info on what ohm values these sensors should be.

Any other suggestions or ideas would be greatfully appreciated.

Thanks again,
