Have a GE PTAC that is working good except it cuts off too early. When you turn it on it will run for about 20 to 30 minuets and go off even if the room is not cool.If you catch it and turn it back on it runs again untill it turns off again. What do you guys think is wrong.

I am wondering if replacing the main control board would solve my problem?

Posted

is the Cold Control set to coldest ?

has it worked OK in the past years ?

what's the outdoor temperature ?

Yes the cold control is set to the coldest. It has worked ok in the past. The outdoor temp is about 95 degrees. The unit comes on cools good, fans run,it just keeps going off for some reason.I,m assuming that the control board regulates the operation of the unit.

unless the Compressor or something else is over-heating..

if you catch it before it turns OFF, can you re-start it and it'll go for another 20 to 30 minutes ?

I haven't caught it right as it cuts off.I've come in the room after it had cut off and turned it back on and it starts.Thank you some much for the service manual and the help.
