Kenmore Model # 596.76504500

I have a Kenmore refrigerator model # 596.76504500.  Is this model made by  Amana?  Can I get the tech sheet or wiring diagram for this.  I have a defrost problem with this unit and I worked on a Amana that looks identical to this one with the same problem.  The Amana defrost problem turned out to be a bad Jazz Board, but this model doesn't have a Jazz board.

Thanks,

Wan

596. is generally made by Amana , I cant get your model # to pull up, can you check it again?

That's the model # that I wrote down 596.76504500.  I would have to go back and check it if that's not working.  Does the serial # help at all?  Serial # is 10097807GN.

Thanks,

Wan

This unit has the same sandwich board that you refer to, but first check and see if you have a failing defrost termination thermostat

I just replaced a defrost thermostate on a 596 Kenmore.

No board, just an ole timey defrost clock.

I did check the defrost element and the defrost termination t-stat and both checked out good.  The jazz board looks the same in the parts diagram (L shaped), but it is not the same when I look at it on Repair Clinic.  Thanks, kdog.

RegUS, I wasn't able to bring up the link that you sent for the Jenn Air tech sheets?

Thanks to both of you for your help.

There oughtta be a tech sheet on the unit - stuffed up under the front above the condenser coil stuck mightily to the cabinet in a plastic sleeve, its a biach to get this off, but contains all of the checks - usually the symptom with the board is that it will defrost fine when initiated manually, just will not initiate on it's own.

Many issues with those DTS stat's though - if the stat has a blue colored plastic body where the wires enter, it's one of the bad ones

I got it RegUS.  kdog, I checked for it down there, but didn't find it.

Thanks to both of you for all your help.

Wan.
