Here's the situation. A while back I went on a service call behind another company. I'm not sure of the exact model number of that refrigerator but it is exactly like another refrigerator I went on with the same problem. That model number is GSS25JFPACC.

Both service calls, exact refrigerators, both times going behind another company that also could not fix the problem. The problem: The damper that allows cold air in from the freezer to the refrigerator will not open. On both calls the previous company had already replaced the main control boards. I guess they gave up and the home warranty company decided to replace the entire refrigerator. Well, coincidentally, both customers moved the old refrigerators to their shops and wanted them fixed anyway and called me.

I checked the damper motor: Unplug refrigerator and open damper half way. Plug in refrigerator and damper should move. It did. It closed then opened, I think. I checked the thermistor on the damper, it read good (correct resistance). I checked the thermistor in the freezer, it checked good.

So what's the problem? In the bottom left of the freezer is something that appears to be another thermistor that I can't get out to check. But I am totally confused. Have any of you figured out this puzzle that me and the techs before me could not crack?

Thanks.

I logged out and back in but that didn't help. Although it says I'm logged in as a grasshopper it clearly says my current subscription is permapprenticeship. Thanks for checking on that. Hope it's corrected soon.

Looks like for some reason, your account subscription didn't convert properly from the old forum. There are about 30 to 40 other Chiefs who didn't convert for some reason. I can't determine who they are, I just know there's a discrepancy in the head count. I've corrected your account no so you're all set.
