MY FRIEND HAS A RHEEM GAS FURNANCE WITH SPARK IGNITION>HE SAID HIS BURNER WILL LIGHT AND GO FOR ABOUT 5 SECONDS AND SHUT DOWN AND THEN THE BLOWER MOTOR WILL COME ON.ANY IDEAS,,THANKS

The control probably ain't gettin ignition confirmation. Tell your friend to remove the ignitor sensor and clean it with a dry brillo pad. Reinstall and retry it.

how old is this furnace? it could have a honeywell smart valve ignition control system, which is a bit more complicated.

HE CLEANED THE SENSOR WITH EMERY CLOTH AND ALL IS WELL..THANKS AGAIN FOR THE BEST ADVICE SITE ON THE WEB AND THAT IS SAYING A MOUTH FULL

I agree with applianceman1800. He Throws around that " sand your flame sensor" alot , but in this case he seems to be right. The symptoms do indicate the board was sensing " flame failure" .
