I know Whirlpool just had one in my area 2 weeks ago for non authorized techs. I assume they would be traveling to different areas but different service reps may have different schedules. I'll try and find out 4 ya. They also offer a 1 or 2 week class but it costs some pretty big $.

Service matters has not up dated there sign on page. They had a couple of classes in Jan. Looks like the price is a $100 plus a day for 5 days and travel.

They are the only manufactures that offer that type of traing to my knowledge. GE will sometimes offer a 1 day class through various parts distributers. Now that I think about it there are other orginizations that offer week long seminars with various manufacturer representation. I think I remember seeing it somewhere on the web wide world.

here's a link to a 3 week class in Ohio for $2500...looks pretty good

Fred's

I second that...

Fred's looks promising.

Looks good enough--that I almost want to go there myself just to learn new things.

I’ve looked at “Fred’s” on YouTube and the web. It would be a serious kick in the pants. Seems to have good recommendations.

For a real education, you can go to Renton Technical Collage in Washington. The Major Appliance and Refrigeration Technology program........... Whirlpool and Sears are on the board of directors......... It is only seven hours a day, 5 days a week for almost 21 months ...For the first 6 months you are in a class room learning A.C., D.C. circuits, three phase,etc.. The same book that an electrical apprentice starts out with............... hot water tanks, disposers, laundry and kitchen...plus 9 months of refrigeration technology......some of the time some students disappear, the unions come buy and ask the instructor who as good grades and scores... those students get a job and go to classes at the same time.......at the end of the program, in the final week, Sears will come by and give a sales pitch on being a Sears tech......If you want to talk about hitting the ground running, this is the program....

For something shorter but still has useful info(not as expensive, either) there's the PSA conference==> http://www.psaworld.com/

They held a joint conference with USA last year-- the ASTI-- down in Orlando, FL. Mrs. Samurai and I went. Good classes put on by the manufacturers and met lots of other techs.
