Did a repair today and would like a little feed back. Found an oven that had a bad clock/controller. It would energize the broil element(electric) when the oven was set to bake. It would overheat badly to the point of setting stuff on fire. Ordered the part (316272200) my cost = 90.27 list at 114.20 from Marcone. Installed and test, unit on line and working correctly. $59 service call, $114 part,$20 labor with tax =$206.51. This job was for a rental agency that keeps me quite busy. How do you feel about the pricing?

Any feed back is welcome, tryin to do this within industry norms. :thanks:

That clock/ERC is $100 on RC plus shipping.

I have a general flat rate booklet ,National Independent Appliance Servicers Association 2008.....their roccomended charge "Install new clock or ERC" $230.00+

Thats a national average price to remain profitable.

<<<$206.51>>>

My quote: $290

Somewhat less is okay...

Most nat'l service ctrs charge *more*.

Your shorting yourself on the labor.

My quote on that's about $260 total however, you should look out for a company that gives you a lot of work to an extent. Also you should mark your parts up more when the dealer Vs. "Sugg. Retail" is low like that I would have sold that part for $149

Also, prices for parts off the truck cannot be the same as prices in a retail store, either online or bricks-n-mortar. Completely different cost structure and inventory management. Truck parts are always more expensive for this reason.

you should look out for a company that gives you a lot of work to an extent.

Is that because they may drop you and hire their brother -inlaw. Leave you scrambling for new work?

Thanks guys. Good replys. I do hvac work on flat rate pricing. Trying to get the appliance price up to be profitable, without driving away clients. I have a book from Marcone that lists that type of job for $97 plus parts. So just a little over one hr labor @ 80 per.

That makes the repair @ $211 plus service call = $270. Looks like my pricing needs tweaking :wallbash: I'll keep workin on it!!!
