Maytag Dependable Care + Drywall mud

So I went on a call today where the customer was complaining their Dependable Care washer wasn't draining. Apparently, they had just received the machine from a relative who had it in their garage sitting idle for a number of years, and the machine failed to drain on the first load attempted. A quick visual check of the drain pump confirmed something was in there - looked like common pillow/comforter fuzz. I removed the hose from the output of the pump first, and tried to feel around with no luck.. then I took the input hose off, and I find this big glob of white goo protruding from the pump. So I take the pump over to the guys bathroom sink and start shaking it out, and there are just globs and globs of this crap - I probably could have re-taped the entire bathroom with just what came out of the pump. After further inspection of the machine, I found this stuff lodged everywhere - most of the tub->pump hose was filled with it, as well as about 75% of the pump->siphon hose. And I had to flush quite a bit out from what was still sitting between the tubs. All in all, took me nearly an hour to clean it all out. I've cleaned out some pretty bad 'rug disintegrations' but I don't remember any of them being quite this bad. Given how long this thing was sitting, I was kind of surprised none it of it had hardened anywhere. Anybody else found anything like this?

The worst clog I've ever had was on a Frigidaire front loader.

The owners nephew from Costa Rica was visiting for the summer and decided to help

with the laundry.

Apparently he could not read English because he put 2 or 3 scoops of cat litter into the

machine instead of detergent.

I had to completely take apart the entire drain pump system to dig it all out & flush everything.

Had another constipated washer today !

Owner washed a throw rug in her Frigidaire Affinity washer.

Needless to say, the whole works were gummed up with rubber crumbles from the backing.

Warned her of the consequences of doing that !

Also warned her about using Gain powder in her machine.

We all know the results of that over time!

But bought experience is the best kind.
