I been working on this Maytag SxS fridge and the evaporator was frozen from about middle to the top, just under the Evap fan. I tried forcing it into defrost by the light switch and also jumpering L1 to heater on the board. I got nothing either way. I even bypassed the defrost thermostat and still nothing. I ran into this same problem with a Kenmore SxS last week. I had the manual and did exactly what it said and the display would say it was in defrost, but it wasn't defrosting and that's with the def stat bypassed also. Both of these units had brand new boards and heaters checked out. I'm going a little crazy here.

Older ADC's ... momentarily Jumper L1 to TEST on the ADC Board.

You may have the "newer" version of the Maytag ADC

which don't have L1 and TEST

To enter Defrost Mode, cycle the Freezer Cold Control ON / OFF 3 times within 6 seconds, then leave on max cold.
