I'm not getting 110V at the fan. Whirltag tech support told me to trace back through the wiring (where the red-with-white wire) to the culprit connection. When I disconnected the polarized plug for the evaporator fan, it made contact with metal (I think the evaporator coil), the fridge went black and dead. Any hope or help?

... not getting 110V at the fan .... plug for the evaporator fan, it made contact with metal

... the fridge went black and dead.

1) :kopkrab: ... must have been 120v there ... or was missing the Neutral connection ,,,

2) may be a bad Controller now, but Lights aren't controlled by controller ... :kopkrab:

My father thinks I crossed my meter leads, creating a direct short. I haven't checked the fuse box for a tripped breaker. Wouldn't a direct short like a described trip the breaker, Sensei Reg?

it should

Sensei Reg,

Does this model need its door switch closed to test for 110 at the fan?

no, but ...

The Fans won't run unless the Compressor is running,

and If the Compressor is running, both Fans should also be running.

It's possible that you were trying to measure 120v at the Evaporator Fan, but the Fridge was cold enough,

and the Compressor wasn't running,

but when you shorted the Connector wire to chassis, the Compressor (and Fans) then maybe had power.

Sensei,

The compressor and condenser fan both were running all during my testing; heard and felt it personally.
