Outside fan motor stops working

Have a Goodman outside A/C unit. Last year, fan motor would stop working. We would turn system off, spray down coils, wait a bit and turn back on and it's fine.

Doing it again this year. Had motor changed out with SAME spec. motor as was in it, but doing it still. Sometimes it goes for hours, sometimes 30-45 mins.

I have read over and over about making sure it's same fan. IT IS same specs. Capacitor was changed out last year also.

What else could be causing this? This is 2 motors now that has done the same thing. When tech first came out, he brought motor that turned wrong way. Had to use it till he got another motor. Motor that turned wrong way worked fine!!! But new motor turning right way, quits after a while. Please HELP!

It is SUPER hot right now in North Texas, so I know it's struggling. We are getting 110+ temps right now. Last year was very hot when it did it also if any of this info. helps.

Are you sure that the first motor that failed was the factory original motor?

Lets say that perhaps someone --- A long time ago installed a new motor or blade . One of these may be the wrong part.

If the motor or blade was not quite the right part, then it may quit running under hot outside temps.

Post some pictures of the unit and motor along with blade if possible.

It is possible that your A/C guy is using substandard motors. I personally have gone to using EMERSON Rescue motor for condensers where a generic motor will be ok. Sometimes it is just not ok to use a generic motor , Sometimes they will overamp and shutdown.

Here is a suggestion..... Get your A/C guy to go to Johnstone ( they sell goodman) and get the EXACT RIGHT motor, capacitor and maybe fan blade.

One last thought.............. Did your guy ever put gauges on this unit ?? is the condenser coil clean?? A dirty coil will cause a motor to overheat. Especially at 110 degrees. Maybe it is possible the guy has blinders on and cant see the real problem , maybe focusing on the motor while ignoring the system.

If he has not he should be taking AMP readings on the motor. If he does not have a AMP METER then you need to find someone who has the right tools and knowlege to fix your unit.

Built our house new, with new A/C system when house was built 5 yrs. ago. Shouldn't be different motor/blade. Coils clean, he's put gauges on it right in front of me.

Generic motor, maybe. Original motor went out, and now 2 new motors since then. He just checked fan and other parts with meter a few minutes ago. He's stumped too.

I just have a hard time thinking 3 motors go out, but one (that spins wrong direction) works fine. The one that blows down, instead of up/out did't get house as cool, but never gave us a problem. Any other suggestions is appreciated too. Thanks guys.

What are the system pressures?

What is the liquid line temperature? and what is the subcooling?

What is the suction line temperature? and how much superheat is there?

What are the temperatures inside and out?

What is the amperage that is read on the motor with an AMP CLAMP? Is it below the value specified on the motor? (it should be )

Is the refrigerant charge perfect according to the label in the condenser?

If your guy says .... I don't know? To any of these questions , He is never going to figure out your problem.

To properly diagnose a problem like yours you need to take in the whole picture. And the whole picture is PRESSURES , TEMPERATURES, and understanding what they mean.
