My Kenmore gas water heater will stay working for a few weeks or for a couple days ! Is this a thermostat issue ? All other parts are clean and it re-lites with no problem ! Is the thermostat located in the control panel ? Any suggestions on where to start ? Here is the diagram http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Kenmore-Parts/Water-heater-Parts/Model-153331544/0582/1082000/P0507089/00001?blt=06&prst=0&shdMod=153331544

Thanks

Also, with our temperatures going on 22 days of 100 - 105 , I wonder if the High Temp shutdown was activated ! Do you know at what temp this is activated or should it matter ? I am sure the attic has been really hot and we set the temp right before the A setting !
