Kenmore Power Miser 12 153.330551 drain valve

I have the above mentioned water heater and the drain valve started leaking on its own. I figured that opening and closing the valve would help reseat the seal, but alas, the leak got worse. The valve (part# 9000254) is like ten bucks, but Is there a washer in the valve that can easily be replaced without spinning out the old valve (my luck it would break when I try to remove it), or is it just safer to replace the whole thing?

I assume it just screws out and the new one screwed on. Does it require teflon tape?

Thanks in advance.

Thank you, For a couple of bucks more, I might as well buy the whole drain valve and replace the whole upper section.
