Kenmore 363.xxxxxxxx made by GE

I'll try to find a similar GE model ..

Training sir, I dont have a print or book, like a good boy scout I want to be prepared. I have some learning to do about, kenmore, being made by GE,  and the history of who made what.  I think the last fridge I worked on was a kenmore, but was getting a list for fidgidaire parts, replace a  temp controller, that controlled motorized damper.  Not confusious, but confused.

I believe you know this but for anyone that needs to know.

Sears makes nothing, all Kenmore appliances are manufactured by other companies and specially labeled as Kenmore for the Sears corporation.

If you ask a customer for a brand so you will have some clue as to what you will be working on and they say it's a Kenmore. that doesn't help at all because it could be any manufacture under the Kenmore label.

All Kenmore model numbers start with 3 numbers and a dot, (IE. 363.xxxxxxx usually 7 or 8 numbers after the dot), the first three numbers will tell you who actually built the Kenmore unit.   After awhile of doing this you will get familiar with the different numbers and remember most of them, (like ranges 790 = Frigidaire, 106,110,665 = Whirlpool, 362 & 363 = GE, are some of the most common ones you will see).

Print this handy dandy page out and if the customer tells you they have a Kenmore, have them give you at least the first 3 numbers before the dot then look it up on this chart and you will know who actually built the unit.

Here's another useful chart to know what all brands are built by each of the few major manufactures around.
