Amana Air Command 80 SV, 3 blinks: Pressure valve stuck open...Now what?

David Poe

Recommended Posts

I am in need of some help, my Amana Air Command 80 SV ng furnace is not working, the trouble code blinks 3 times, leading me to believe that the pressure valve is stuck open. I am NOT an electrician, but I can follow directions...any advice?

I presume you referenced the trouble code chart on the furnace. If it says that three blinks indicates a pressure switch is open, there could be a couple of things wrong.

First, when the furnace tries to start, is the draft inducer fan working?

Yes it was. I ended up cleaning out the tube to the switch, and we have heat again! Thank you for your reply.

A lot of times condensation from the flue will create hard water and clog ports, tubes. a paper clip that will not go into the pressure switch is a sign this has happened. You should be able to tell if the clip has made it past the base of the nipple on the switch. if not. push it past and check with meter. Pressure switch's are pretty inexpensive and I would recommend replacing part if you are having trouble with it, make SURE it is one with the same '' W.C.,
