Does anyone use tablet reader to carry service manuals? Any recommendations? Does a Kindle have a filing system like windows explorer to allow organizing and quick access of pdfs by brand or mfg, etc?

thank you.

I used to use a Kindle Fire.  Can't beat it for the price and it worked well.  There is a filing app you can buy.

I use an iPad mini now.  Makes sense for me because everything else i use regularly is in the Apple orchard.

Do you use a specific program to load documents onto the iPad mini? I know the Kindle has a send to Kindle download program. Does Apple have something similar? I enjoyed and got a lot out of your video on getting documents onto the Kindle... maybe you can do the same for the mini?... Hint, hint. :D

GoodReader is the go-to, be-all, end-all doc app for iPad mini.  I'm pretty sure they also have a Droid version.

I store everything in Dropbox and for every file I store I create a note for it in Evernote giving publication number, model numbers, a description of the file and I link to the Dropbox location. I also add any pertinent information I need to add that document. For instance I see a sevice pointer may help on more models than just what's listed in the pointer, so I add that.

Actually when I see a service manual request on either my iPhone or iPad all I do is search Evernote and copy the note and paste it giving the link to the file on Dropbox. I do usually search for the Publucatiin first in the downloads section before replying though.

I've tried good Reader and a lot of other document apps and so far this has worked out the best, one for storage one for searching.

I also share a read only version of Evernote with all of my techs that they can't add to or delete. But they have a folder they can put new notes into and I'll add to them and file where they need to go.
